In this episode of the KI Kantine, Buschi explains why you don’t always need to completely retrain a language model to make it smarter. Instead of retraining all the employees in a huge office building, you simply assign a few specialists – that’s the idea behind LoRA (Low-Rank Adaptation). In the canteen discussion, Buschi shows how this metaphor helps to understand fine-tuning of LLMs, what the advantages and limitations are, and why good data is crucial.

The KI Kantine is a project by Michael Busch – developer, entrepreneur, and curious canteen philosopher.

Here, you’ll regularly get an AI lunch break into the real developer workday – understandable, practical, and with a touch of skepticism.

New episodes appear regularly – usually just when you’re grabbing a tray.
